A close escape...

Recently Geoff Kelly was attacked by a tree on the 15th. Actually I shouldnt make light of it because Geoff was very lucky to escape unharmed.

He was travelling in his cart on the LHS (southern) side of the 15th when a large branch suddenly fell onto his cart, leaving him and his cart trapped. Fortunately, the branch didnt crush his cart down onto him or hit him directly.

With the help of other players, Geoff was able to eventually extract his cart from under the branch.

The moral of the story is that being around eucalyptus trees, indeed any large trees has an element of personal risk. Adelaide ecologist Vicki-Jo Russell says: "Gum trees can drop limbs at any time and without warning, but they are more likely to drop them in summer, during periods of hot or humid weather, and/or during strong winds." This is a timely reminder for players and visitors alike of the hidden dangers when moving through our otherwise beautiful golf course.
