Familiarity with the rules of the game is important for all players, as the Rules Of Golf define the underlying principles of the game and must be adhered to in all competitions.

On 1st January 2019, a radical revision of the Rules of Golf came into effect. The range of changes is extensive and will be challenging for many to get used to, even changes of terminology - "Water Hazards" become "Penalty Areas", with wider application, for example.

All players should familiarize themselves with the 2019 changes to the rules.

Rule books are no longer distributed in printed form but can be downloaded in PDF form from the R&A website. There is a lot of information available on-line from the R&A Rules Page and the USGA Rules page. The "Decisions on the Rules of Golf" publication will no longer apply. Golf Australia also has a comprehensive page about rules.

There are also smart phone and tablet Apps for rules from the Apple App Store and Google Play store, the R&A website has links.

The Match & Greens Committee has rewritten our local rules in the context of the 2019 rules changes. The new local rules introduce some new options that will benefit players. For current information visit our Local Rules page and the club noticeboards.
