Familiarity with the rules of the game is important for all players, as the Rules Of Golf define the underlying principles of the game and must be adhered to in all competitions.

Rule books are available free of charge from The Office, and much information is available on-line from the R&A Rules Page and the USGA Rules page. Detailed Rules and Decisions are also available at the USGA. Golf Australia also has a comprehensive page about rules.

The R&A Downloads page has PDF forms of the Rules of Golf in a number of languages as well as quick guides. There are also Apps for rules and decisions from the Apple App Store and Google Play store, the R&A Apps page has links.

In 2019, a radical revision of the Rules of Golf will come into effect. The range of changes is extensive and will be challenging for many to get used to, even changes of terminology - "Water Hazards" will become "Penalty Areas", with wider application, for example.

A number of publications are to be released in September 2018, but in the mean time you can read about the changes at Golf Australia, R&A, and USGA. These on-line resources contain very good guides to the changes, including videos, and are well worth viewing.

Lyn Tobin has produced a summary document from the https://www.rules.golf web site.

Later this year the Match & Greens Committee will be reviewing our local rules in the context of the 2019 rules changes. There will be more information made available to members when the new publications from R&A etc are available later in the year. For current information visit our Local Rules page.
